Sofie Project shortlisted for BASIS Campaign of the Year

We’re delighted to announce that ‘The Sofie Project’, run in collaboration with Common Goal, has been nominated for ‘Campaign of the Year’ at the British Association for Sustainable Sport (BASIS) Awards!

The British Association for Sustainable Sport (BASIS) awards recognise individuals, organisations and initiatives that have made a significant impact on promoting sustainability. The Sofie Project has been recognised alongside other incredible initiatives from organisations such as the WWF and Count Us In, and celebrates sustainability campaigns in sport.

‘The Sofie Project’, football’s biggest player-led advocacy campaign, created by Danish midfielder Sofie Junge Pedersen, saw 49 players take responsibility for the environmental impact of their flights to and from the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023. In total, the initiative saw over €25,000 donated to climate positive causes.

This is an incredible achievement as ‘The Sofie Project’ has now been shortlisted for three different awards, as well as winning the Marcus Rashford Award at the World Football Summit. We are proud to have collaborated on such an inspiring initiative, and congratulations to all the nominees and winners!
