Engaging Worthing Schoolchildren in Sustainability through Football
Since April 2024, FFF has been offering Worthing schoolchildren free sustainability workshops as part of the Adur & Worthing Councils Worthing Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Fund.
This program engages young people at the critical intersection of climate and football, delivering engaging and practical sessions tailored to their learning environment. We help academy players, foundations, and schools understand the relationship between football and climate change, aiming to improve their attitudes towards environmental issues and empower them to live more sustainably while emphasising the football industry’s responsibility to tackle climate change.
On average, our workshops achieve an 80% increase in:
The understanding of climate change
The relationship between football and climate change
Attitudes towards environmental sustainability
A sense of empowerment to live more sustainably
Through the CIL Fund, we have delivered 12 out of 36 workshops at schools such as Oak Grove College and The EYE Project UK, where they have been met with enthusiasm and curiosity. By blending these two worlds, we aim to inspire the next generation to think critically about environmental issues while fostering a love for the beautiful game.
